The beginning of July sees Margie celebrating her birthday so we decided that a day out was in order. Liz managed to keep the lunch destination a secret so it was a lovely surprise for Margie when we stopped in St Medard. This pretty village near Catus is home to Le Gindreau the restaurant of chef-proprietor Pascal Bardet. The restaurant is housed in a building that was once a school, it is a large, beautifully proportioned stone house with a welcoming atmosphere and a beautifully dressed dining space that overlooks a green valley. We dined inside as the weather wasn’t quite reliable enough to use the lovely terrace.

As it was a special occasion we had the menu degustation – six courses with accompanying wines – this proved to be an excellent choice. Each course was presented on it’s own plates which had been chosen with great care and obviously made by some gifted artisans. The sommelier made excellent choices of wine, all local bar one and so well matched to the food that it simply added another dimension enhancing the flavours. Every aspect of the experience has obviously been carefully considered. the occasion was delightful and to be recommended.
This sort of meal doesn’t come cheap but, in our view, it is worth every penny. If you are looking for somewhere as a treat to celebrate something special this is exactly where you should dine.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#deead0″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Perhaps you would like to know…
