This week started to get very as the weekend approached. We had planned to visit the water lily centre at Le Temple sur Lot so went armed with suncream, hats and shades. The gardens had a very nice restaurant where we started our visit with a simple but good light lunch before wandering round all the lily pools. The nursery was started by Bory Latour-Marliac who discovered how to breed coloured water lilys, long before Mendel’s genetic research – until the 1880s all European water lilies were white. He exhibited his lilies at the Great Exhibition of 1889 in Paris; this is where Monet encountered them and later created his garden at Giverny from water lilies supplied by Latour-Marliac.
We had such a lovely afternoon and have simply documented this with the pictures in this post… enjoy![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][postgallery_grid id=”SS_G4_20170616_02 ” data_source=”data-4″ null=”” slidesetid=”SS_G4_20170616_02″ content_type=”image” columnpadding=”column_padding” height=”200px” align=”aligncenter” lightbox=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#deead0″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Perhaps you would like to know…
