We are feeling very guilty as there has been no time these last few weeks to update the blog. many things happening all at once here. Liz was away for a few days during which the Leylandii hedge, which we hated and was more or less dead, was removed and replaced. Margies did most of the hard work helped by our nieghbour Remy, who once again came to our rescue. All the Leylandii were removed and added to our huge bonfire.
When Liz returned Margie was exhausted having planted 33 new yew frees which she has been watering every day, they look much better and hopefully they will develop into a beautiful hedge in the next few years.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][postgallery_grid id=”grid_20170421_04″ data_source=”data-4″ null=”” slidesetid=”SS_G5_20170421_04″ content_type=”image” columns=”5″ height=”200px” align=”aligncenter” lightbox=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We had ordered some bare root plants for the potager which arrived much more quickly than expected. When Liz returned Margie had temporarily potted them in any available container – garden pots, horse buckets, washing up bowls and dustbins – they then needed to be planted out. This was a large task – 40 raspberries, 9 gooseberries, 9 current bushes, 2 victoria plums, 4 damson, 2 mirabelle plums, one fig tree, 30 strawberries! This meant a huge amount of digging to prepare the ground properly for the plants; thank goodness that Remy had rotavated first otherwise we would still be at it!
All the seeds on the terrace and in the propagator had sprouted and were bursting out of their pots so either needed potting on or planting out. Plus the fencing of the south field started.
The additional nuisance was that we lost our internet and although now restored it is even slower than before Mind you we should be grateful as there is one area of the village which has had no internet for more than a month now!
Meantime spring has galloped on and the wildlife is thriving, as are we.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][postgallery_grid id=”grid_20170421_02″ data_source=”data-4″ null=”” slidesetid=”SS_G4_21070421_02″ content_type=”image” columns=”4″ height=”200px” align=”aligncenter” lightbox=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]So, this post is a pictorial sprint through our recent activities. Hopefully we will be back to the weekly routine soon – assuming the internet behaves..[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][postgallery_grid id=”grid_20170421_03″ data_source=”data-4″ null=”” slidesetid=”SS_G5_20170421_03″ content_type=”image” columns=”4″ height=”200px” align=”aligncenter” lightbox=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#deead0″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Perhaps you would like to know…
